Her Story
As an American born Latina, Sylvia Miguelina spent much of her life trying to find the place she fit in. Not light enough to fit in with her classmates and not Puerto Rican enough to fit in with other Latinos. However, education was viewed as a powerful equalizer and an opportunity to gain knowledge that could never be taken away regardless of any life circumstance. Little did she know that push towards education would be her life's passion.
As a first generation college student, Sylvia went on to earn her Associate of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing; a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing; and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Public Administration - making her a of part of roughly 6% of the Latino population with this degree.
Though Sylvia's education set her apart in one way, she would still face many challenges that her education would not alone be able to overcome. Refusing to be a statistic, she broke generational curses of abuse and poverty; delayed marriage despite being a solo parent for more than 17 years; and now is an entrepreneur and leader. Her dedication to her family has taught her so many lessons about herself that she now understands the power behind her testimony.

Throughout the years, Sylvia has learned to live life on her own terms. Living in authenticity is now paramount to who she is. But her most valuable lesson to date is one of continuous growth.

"To be on a continuation of learning means one is humble enough to know you don't have all of the answers, and courageous enough to seek them."
